Jethro Toe (Jethro Tull) 'Sunshine Day' 7"single MGM 1384 *RARE STOCK COPY*

I am delighted to show you my exceptionally rare 7" single from 1968 on the MGM label by Jethro Toe entitled, 'Sunshine Day'.

Sunshine Day was composed by Mick Abrahams and is the debut single from rock band Jethro Tull - although the label actually reads Jethro Toe.

The reference number of the disc is MGM 1384.  The 'B' Side has the track, 'Aeroplane'.

Sorry, now sold

More details

This is the rarest of all Jethro Tull singles and rarely comes up for sale.

There is some dispute as to why the label is credited to Jethro Toe instead of Jethro Tull, some say that the record failed to sell so they changed their name, others say it is a mis-print on the label.  Whatever the reason, this is a mega rare disc.

I guarantee it is a genuine example:

  • It has the grooves on the outside of the label,
  • It has the four-prong push out centre
  • It has stamped matrix numbers (Side A - 7XSM 1498 - 1 & Side B - 7XSM 1499 - 1)
  • It has the raised KT tax code to the centre label (visible in the phtographs)

The disc looks superb to both sides except for a single mark on Side A (that I have shown in the photographs).  I regard the mark as superficial as it absolutely does not sound when played on my Goldring Lenco system.  The disc plays superbly on both sides, there is absolutely no background noise throughout - it really is a fantastic example!

I play grade this disc as EX to both sides.
